Yesterday evening Jim's hip dislocated again, simply from shifting in bed. We had a better experience at the ER because the Hospice doctor called the ER doctor to coordinate his comfort medication and to expedite the process of hip reduction. He was admitted back to the in-patient unit of Hospice late last night. I thought they would be better able to control his pain quickly in case of another dislocation.
He is sleeping more and more, not only at night, but also during much of the day. All we want is for him to be comfortable and peaceful, which has always been Jim's wish as well.
Thank you for your continued prayers and concern and offers of help. Barbara

ReplyDeleteTIME FOR A TRIBUTE! We have always known how wonderful Barb and Jim's children are (including their wonderful spouses, of course)but having witnessed so many times over these last months the selfless love and generous sharing of their time to help out and provide support and comfort, we have witnessed the true miracle of love in action. Of course, they had great role models in this! They have all cooperated to leave no stone unturned to do whatever is needed for their amazing parents. From now on I will think of the words "son" and "daughter" as having SACRED meaning, for you have been real sacraments. Our love and prayers and our deep admiration are with you all. Always loving you, Susan and John
ReplyDeleteI just spoke with my Mom, Mary, and we spoke about you - Uncle Jim and Aunt Barbara. Aunt Barb, I know your heart is heavy at this time and I weap for you and Uncle Jim. Enjoy every moment of his human presence, as far away as the word 'enjoy' may be from your mind right now. May you find comfort in the fact that Uncle Jim is still with us for as long as God may allow. I think of you both everyday, when I look down your street (on LBI), driving by, I say a prayer, hoping that I will see you both come springtime. I pray for my cousins and their children as well, as they share these precious moments with you both. You are not taken for granted. Love and Peace, Shar (Gaudet-Walsh)
ReplyDeleteDear Friend, I have been out of your life for many too many years and to hear that you are in pain and trying to deal with the rigors of a dreadful illness is a very sad thing, sad for those that love you and sad for those of us that sat at your feet and learned something new every day. You and I spent many hours talking and debating things that seem so trivial today but had a major impact on how work was done, people were dealt with, and tasks were completed. I have spent many hours in the recent days remembering the disdain we (you and I) experienced in trying to bring two organizations together that had no love or interest in the outcome. You were a rock then and obviously nothing has changed. Please know that my heart goes out to you and your dear family, especially Barbara for all she is and does. Live and love every day sir for you are the best.
