Home Again/Hip Intact

Jim was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is doing pretty well at home. My sister Mary left yesterday and sister Susan arrived same day from NJ. It was great having help. Mike came from work to help get Jim home--he's very nervous about dislocating the hip again as you can imagine. His bloodwork of today showed hemoglobin of 11.2, neutrophils at 13,000 (those Neupogen shots really work well!!!), and now his platelets are normal again. Next week on Thursday we will have the evaluation with the whole team at NIH to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of continuing with the 6th cycle of chemo or stopping now after 5. Stay tuned. Thanks to Dick Payne for staying with Jim at the hospital yesterday morning and to YJ for doing the same on Wednesday afternoon. Love to all you good people. Barbara

  1. Sister Joanne is feeling a lot of GUILT for not being able to be there from Florida...it's tough competing with those "good" sisters...just kidding...so glad that you have as much help as you can get...it was good to hear YJ's rendition of "An Afternoon With Dad"...PULITZER PRIZE winning...Here's to next Thursday and beyond!!!!!Lots of love and prayers, Joanne (the prodigal sister)

  2. Dear Barbara and Jim,
So glad that you are home from the hospital, Jim! And we know that you are too, Barb! Hope that both of you can get some much needed rest now before your meeting with the team next Thursday. We'll be anxiously waiting to hear what decisions come from that meeting. YJ- know what you mean about the headline versus the full article. I think that's what happens in a large family and we so enjoyed the full article. Thanks! We are so looking forward to seeing all of you in August! Barb, hopefully I'll get to talk to you sometime today - I'm off today but work tomorrow. Know that you are in our hearts every day and many prayers are being said all the time.
    God bless all you Fays!
    Many hugs and kisses from
    Jeanne, Frank and Alyssa

we have been tracking your progress and Oh God the hip please not the hip -it has not been easy. We know a little about hospitalizations and we certainly wish you could stay at home more.
you are indeed blessed to have family and friends who care so much.

    Love Tom & Pat

P.S. I don't care how many times you throw your hip out, my wife will never see you naked again! I just can't take that chance.
