An Inpatient Once Again
Jim spiked a high temp last evening and is now an inpatient at NIH again. They immediately started him on two different IV antibiotics. His neutrophils are at 100 so he is very vulnerable right now. I stayed with him last night and he didn't sleep much due to the return of horrendous diarrhea. My sister, Mary, arrived from NJ just in time to help me get him to the hospital and go thru the admission process with us. Erin came later, bringing his orthopedic equipment and she took Mary home at midnight. Mary is with him now as I catch up on my rest--we decided it best to take turns as this might turn out to be a long stay. Who knows? I don't predict anything anymore as all things are subject to change. Barbara

Dear Jim and Barb, Had hoped that the end treatments might be easier than the first, but we see that wasn't to be. But know that you are in the best place there is and with the best caregivers. Love and prayers from us. Today we saw and held the beautiful little princess, Charlotte. Just keep her lovely little face in your mind as you fight this dastardly thing. Hugs to both of you. ReplyDeleteDear Barbara and Jim,
ReplyDeleteWOW! We are so sad for both of you that you are febrile again Jim. Can only imagine how miserable that makes you feel- and the diarrhea along with it. You have really had to fight hard to beat this darn illness. We are impressed by your determination and are praying very hard for your recovery! We love both of you- you are an inspiration to all of us.
Love, hugs, kisses,
Jeanne, Frank and Alyssa
Guess I should have read the blog yesterday before I called your house. I didn't know what was going on. So sorry to hear that Jim's back in the hospital but hopefully, with all our prayers, he'll soon be home once more. It's so good to hear that Mary arrived in time to relieve you, Barbara. You have to make sure you take care of yourself. Please give Jim our best.
