A Peaceful Journey Home

My dearest Jim was born into eternal life yesterday at 2:35 pm. I was with him as he took his last breaths. He had been sleeping peacefully for two days and the children and I and some close friends had quality time with him during that period. I will miss him so. Love, Barbara

  1. Barbara,
    As Christians we know that this is a wonderful time for Jim, but quite sad for family and friends left behind. Jim was a wonderful person whom I had the priviledge to know as a friend and a co-worker for many years. Please accept my sincerest condolences and know that you and your family are in my prayers.

  2. Dear Barbara & all the family,
    You and Jim always came to whatever little party or celebration we were having - driving many hours from VA to get here. I always appreciated the sacrifice you made to be with us. Family was always so important to the both you and now I know why. It's because you have one heck of a wonderful and loving family! My heart goes out to all of you. I still have (and display it in our living room) the little doll Jim sent me from Germany so many years ago. I have always, and will always, treasure it as a remembrance of my Godfather. Rest in peace, Jim. My prayers are with you, Barbara, and with all your family.
    Love,
    Regina & Rick

  3. Aunt Barbara, Joe, Erin, Michael, Kathleen, and Jim and all the Fays;
    My uncle, your husband and father, leaves behind many wonderful memories in those who love him. I will always fondly remember my times in his presence, and we wish you all strength and serenity during this difficult time.
    Love,
    Aaron (Ilona, and Jayden)

  4. A great man, an Irish gentleman, a leader, a soldier. Jim's foresight created a small Army Intel unit that saved innumerous lives during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The talent he gathered with a shoe string budget and technological foresight made National and Service agencies cringe, but soldiers sing praises.

    Templates were plotted in DC of Iraq enemy locations and were transmitted to forward deployed units in minutes not days. They never knew what hit them. Jim lived to see politics destroy his work and the unit dismantled but he didn't let it destroy him. He went on to do community service and dedicated himself to his family in his retirement. Amen Jim Amen, job well done.

  5. I greatly admired Jim. He was a wonderful gentleman and a true professional. He is the last of the OSS class intel officers. I will miss him.

  8. Barb, I just got finished putting this Blog in printable format for you. What a story of love courage and downright tenacity. I can't imagine how you Fays perservered for the past 10 months. Barb your kids are truly remarkable. But as Ma Farley used to say "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". I am saddened at the loss of a true friend. The email I sent to you a few weeks ago summed up what Jim meant to me. I'll miss him dearly. Barb I won't be able to make the funeral. My hip hasn't recovered enough to withstand a 10 hour round trip in the car. It's ironic that the problem that plagued Jim all these years, now keeps me away from being with you in your time of need. Needless to say I'll be there in spirit and remember all of the Fays in my prayers.

    God bless you all
