A Long Day at NIH

Jim had a bad night last night with nausea and abdominal pain so they wanted to see him at NIH. Fortunately, Mike Fay spent the night with us and accompanied us to NIH. Jim received a couple of drugs intravenously to help him feel better with only minimal improvement. The good news is that his temp remains normal, hemoglobin 9.3, platelets normal, neutrophils at 32,ooo (this is the "bump-up" before the decline), and he was not dehydrated. They administered IV fluids anyway prophylactically. We're hoping that the giving of extra IV fluids with his chemo and the cutting back on Prednisone will give him an uneventful 2 week rest before cycle 5. Got home at 6:00 pm after fighting traffic on the beltway. Hope he is able to sleep tonight. Barbara

    Another eventful day! We hope and pray that the nausea has passed and that Jim has some comfortable days at home before beginning again. We think of you always and all that you both are going through. We're with you in spirit! We love you enormously, Susan and John

    Dear Barbara and Jim,
    So sorry, Jim, that you were having so much trouble with the nausea and abd pain. Rotten! Glad for both of you that Mike was there and able to go with you! Again, we thank the good Lord for the closeness of your children! Our love and prayers are with you always- and we'll concentrate on you getting that uneventful couple of weeks before #5. Thanks so much for the pictures of those beautiful Henry children. What a smile that Willie has! Love it! Miss Charlotte looks very peaceful right now- good luck Kath and Dan!

    Good news ---- that he didn't have to stay in the hospital. That's sure different from the other times. Hope you get some good sleep in your own bed Jim. We're thinking about you out here in MN. Everyone says HI!

    Thinking of you with love and prayers. We're here in NC where our lovely, Nelle, graduated from 8th grade last night. YIKES! Hope that your back on track today, Jim, and resting up for a few days. Love from Carol, Fred and Stephen

    Sorry about the bad night on Wed. but hope all is better now. At least the numbers are good. Just know that we love you and you both are in our thoughts and prayers every day.
