New Complications

Discouraging day--diarrhea's back--they think it's a return of the C. Difficile--maybe the germ became resistant to Flagyl so they changed it to Vancomycin by mouth. Also noticed a lot of swelling in one leg--a sonogram showed that to be a blood clot in his left leg. Now on a blood thinner called Lovenox--one injection each night. On a positive note--Jim's no longer neutropenic. Still planning on the CT scan on Monday (it was rescheduled), but have to check with the doctor on Monday on whether they will do the bone marrow biopsy while on Lovenox. Hoping for calmer days! Barbara

  2. Dearest Barbara and Jim,
Sorry about the c-diff, Jim. I do know how difficult that can be. Hope the vancomycin is better. Good news about the ANC. Numbers are looking good. You are a terrific fighter. We are all praying every day for you and mentally fighting with you. Barb, keep up the good work. I hope that you also nap when you can because we all know how exhausting this is for you, also. Both of you are such an inspiration. I keep having so many funny memories! I'll be lying in bed at night thinking about you two and I'll start laughing. Jim changing our Mike's diaper one day ( this was before Joe was born ) and he was amazed that these hard brown marbles rolled out. Guess I wasn't feeding Michael the right things! Jim visiting us in Louisiana and fixing some of the kids toys and permanently cementing the wrong handles on the wrong push toys much to the present toddler's amazement. The corn popper ( remember those ) now had a handle with a steering wheel and horn on it and the train had the other handle. So many laughs. Frank, Jim and I sitting glued to the TV listening to the Vatican tell us we still had to keep having babies ( we had just had # 5 ). Michael standing at your apartment door knocking and asking if " my little friend Joey can come out to play " after he had already sripped off his boots and snowsuit in your hallway! Patti teaching your Michael how to climb out of his crib. Oh, it goes on and on! Better stop! Just know that we are thinking about you every day! Hven't written for a few days because I've been doing an "Erin"- running around with Alyssa and Susan's three boys now that everyone's out of school! It is crazy! Love both of yo and we are sending much love, many hugs and kisses.
    God bless all you Fays
    Jeanne, Frank and Alyssa
