Out of ICU/Into Telemetry

Jim's much better today, although still spiking fevers. An echo-cardiogram showed his heart is normal so they moved him out of the ICU and onto a telemetry unit so that they can monitor his heart rate. They want to keep an eye on him just in case he has another syncope episode (make sure it's not being caused by a heart arrhythmia). They're also being very cautious that the fevers are not caused by infection as his immune system is very compromised. That's OK--we like caution. He really wants to come home ("these hospital beds are too damn small!") but we both know that he's better off being watched carefully. I have passed on to him all your good wishes. Love to all, Barbara

  1. Jim's heart is anything but "normal" It's as big as all outdoors. Off to Phoenix tonight. Prayers work just as well out west. Love to all.

  3. What a heart! Glad you're out of ICU. That gets you closer to home. Hopefully you will remain AFEBRILE today! How's that for a great word! Hope you've both been able to get some sleep.

  5. Dear Barbara, dear Jim, I got the link from Carol and Fred and want you to know that I do think of and pray for you often and do hope that things start to look better daily. It would be terrific to see you when I'm in the area during the summer. Best wishes, thoughts and many prayers,

  8. Well, I must say my medical vocabulary is increasing with words like "Arrhythmia", "snycope', afebrile" and "vasovagal". I am now using those words in my everyday speech. But I don't need to learn anymore so Jim, please ge better and come home to all of us who love you.

    Good wishes and prayers,

    Joanne and Sam
