Jim had a great day yesterday, even wanted to go out to lunch. We called Shirley and Frank Marvin and they were free and met us at the local Afgan restaurant. Had a great time. Since his neutrophils were still high, we seized the moment!
Today he went in to NIH for blood work with daughter-in-law Sally and then had an eye exam in the pm (lost his prescription glasses). By the time he got home he was exhausted--a combination of being off the Prednisone (last dose was Wednesday night) and the effects of the Chemo. His temperature remains normal (Hurray!) and he's been sleeping for at least 4 hours. I'm about to wake him up for dinner. Thanks to all for all the meals, rides, prayers and support. Barbara

Hi Uncle Jim and Aunt Barb,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that things are going well:-) At the risk of sounding dumb, I lost my prescription glasses too (last Thurs was the last time I had them on). I substitute at the high school. I was in the autistic class Thurs & Fri. - it's really great to work with those kids. Well, just wanted you to know that I pray every day for your well-being. Shar
So happy to hear that you had a good day. It is the ray of sunshine on the partly cloudy day that rejuvinates us! God was truly shining down on your May Day.
ReplyDeleteI pray that you continue to have more days like this one.
Kisses! Love you,
Amy
Hi to both of you dear friends,
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a chance to go out to lunch and enjoyed it! Hopefully you were able to sleep last night, Jim. I'm thinking that you have a two week break now. Went to Jordan's First Holy Communion this morning- it went well and we all enjoyed it. Then out to lunch to his favorite place. Now off to their house to cut into his cake- we were all too stuffed to do it at the restaurant. Tried to call you but no one answered. Thought maybe you were both napping or out for awhile. Will try later.
With our love and prayers,
Jeanne, Frank and Alyssa
Dear Jim and Barbara,
ReplyDeleteWanted to let you know that we're thinking of you with positive thoughts and prayers. Glad that you're taking it easy when you need to Jim and that nurse Barbara is keeping a watchful eye over you---don't quite understand all of her medical jargonese but it sure does sound good :-).
I was cleaning out a notebook and found the following quote (author unknown) and
thought it was particularly meaningful:
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain.
So keep dancing, Jim!
Your friends,
Dick & Calreen Payne
