Update
Jim started to have diarrhea last night and a culture showed it to be C. Difficile again (for those of youwho tuned in to the blog recently, that's a nasty germ that puts out a toxin and causes abdominal cramping and diarrhea). So he's in isolation and was seen by the Infectious Disease doctors today. They don't think the C.Diff caused the fevers all week--that probably was what they call neutropenic fever. Anyway so far today no fever(hope it stays that way). He's on medication by mouth for the C. Diff and will probably stay on it long term since this is the second time he's had it. His neutrophil count is up to 410 (hurray!) Kathleen (and "New Kid") were here to visit and she told us that her C-section is scheduled for June 6th @ 11:00 AM. Kath and I took Jim outside to the courtyard for some fresh air (first time in ages that we didn't have rain. Barbara

Sorry to hear about the C.Diff...any news on when he can go home? Kath, good luck on 6-6... we'll be thinking of you. I've been wondering...how does Jim get to read these blogs? Do you have a laptop that you can bring to the hospital or does he have to wait til he's home? Anyway, still and always praying...

Glad to hear about those neutrophils though- they're certainly on their way up- great news! Get's you that much closer to home! Hope the fever stays down. Barbara, I know that I've said it before but have to repeat myself- we thank you so much for keeping us so informed- it has just been wonderful to know how Jim has been doing! All we can say is Thank God for antibiotics! Keep fighting Jim and Barb. We love you very much, Susan and John
ReplyDeleteThere's a computer/TV in his room. So he can read notes from NIH, too.
ReplyDeleteKath did you also know that June the 6th is D-day the invasion of Normandy. We hope for your sake it's not the "Longest Day" for you.
